The New York Mets bats woke up late and they tried to have a magically 9th inning rally as an homage to their 2024 season, but came up short in the season opener falling to the Astros 3-1. Clay Holmes got the start on Opening Day for the Mets and struggles with his command and the bats for the offense were cold in the early stages and couldn't complete the comeback against Josh Hader in the 9th inning.
