ST. LOUIS – Insistent a night earlier that he wanted nothing to do with going on the 10-day injured list for the first time in his MLB career, shortstop Masyn Winn finally relented on Saturday in hopes of getting beyond the back spasms that knocked him out of Friday’s game.

ST. LOUIS -- Standing at second base fielding a position he had never been in during a big league game, Cardinals catcher-turned-infielder Pedro Pagés playfully flapped the glove that was unfamiliar to his hand as he giggled toward his team’s dugout.

While there was offense to be found around the Minor Leagues on Thursday, a number of the brightest young hurlers stood particularly tall on the mound.

The Minor Leagues are in full swing with Triple-A circuits two weeks into their seasons and Double-A, High-A and Single-A leagues a week into theirs.

A number of baseball's best prospects broke through on Wednesday after a quiet opening weekend, including a pair of Top 100 prospects at Double-A. A lightning-quick effort at High-A was one for the ages while a Triple-A slugger continues to establish himself as one of the top young power hitters.
