ALERT: Auburn Hasn’t Faced a Defense Like THIS | Auburn Football Podcast

The War Rapport || Mike G • B Wil • Ike Jones • C-Dub — Thu, 01 Oct 2026 21:30:00 GMT

ALERT: Auburn football is heading into a matchup with a Tennessee defense that might be much better than people expected coming into the 2026 season.

Jim Knowles has arrived in Knoxville and the early returns have been impressive. Tennessee already had talent on defense, but this unit is playing faster, creating pressure and giving quarterbacks completely different pictures before and after the snap.

That could present a serious challenge for Auburn.

Tennessee has generated pressure without needing one dominant pass rusher to carry the entire defense. Instead, the Volunteers have been able to attack by committee, moving linebackers around, changing looks and forcing offensive lines and quarterbacks to communicate correctly.

That makes Auburn’s preparation for Knoxville even more important.

BREAKING: Tennessee Just Lost a HUGE Piece | Auburn Football Podcast

The War Rapport || Mike G • B Wil • Ike Jones • C-Dub — Thu, 01 Oct 2026 19:30:00 GMT

BREAKING news ahead of Auburn football’s trip to Knoxville could make one of the biggest matchups of the game even more interesting.

Tennessee has lost experienced offensive lineman Wendell Moe Jr. for the season, creating another major question for an offensive line that just had a brutal afternoon protecting true freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon against Texas.

Now Auburn gets its opportunity.

The Volunteers entered the season with experience up front and expectations that the offensive line would make life easier for a freshman quarterback. Early rushing numbers looked impressive, but the Texas game exposed protection issues that Auburn will absolutely have to investigate.

Texas recorded ten sacks against Tennessee. Auburn may not have the exact personnel Texas has along its defensive front, but that does not mean the Tigers cannot borrow from the blueprint.

Stunts, pressure, communication problems and negative plays could become a massive part of this matchup.

WARNING: Tennessee Has a Problem Auburn Can Exploit | Auburn Football Podcast

The War Rapport || Mike G • B Wil • Ike Jones • C-Dub — Thu, 01 Oct 2026 17:30:00 GMT

Auburn football is heading to Knoxville for its first true road test of the 2026 season, and there are storylines everywhere heading into this SEC matchup against Tennessee.

Alex Golesh returns to Neyland Stadium after previously serving as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator under Josh Heupel. He will not be the only familiar face making the trip. Kodi Burns and Tim Banks also have recent Tennessee connections, making this one of the most interesting coaching matchups on Auburn’s schedule.

But the reunion story is only part of what makes Auburn versus Tennessee fascinating.

Tennessee enters the matchup with true freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon running the offense. Brandon has already shown the athleticism, arm talent and running ability that made him such a highly regarded quarterback prospect. He has also shown some of the growing pains expected from a freshman playing the position in the SEC.

The football conversation heats up right along with the golf as Auburn prepares for a huge SEC road challenge. Can Byrum Brown take over a game? Auburn’s Front Seven & Interior D-Line: Why Cody Sigler, Jourdin Crawford, and Auburn's defensive front are primed to capitalize. BREAKING: Auburn Football Can Transform Season | TWT Part 11 | Auburn Football Podcast

The War Rapport || Mike G • B Wil • Ike Jones • C-Dub — Wed, 30 Sep 2026 22:00:00 GMT

ALERT: What would three wins in October mean for Auburn football and Alex Golesh?

Everything changes.

Auburn entered this brutal stretch with reasonable questions about whether the Tigers could simply survive October. But imagine Auburn finding three wins and entering November at 6 and 2.

That would move the needle.

The conversation around Golesh's first season would immediately change from whether Auburn can reach respectability to how high the Tigers can actually climb.

That leads to an interesting question.

Would you rather Auburn go 3 and 1 in October and lose to Alabama, or struggle through October and then beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa?

The rivalry matters. Nobody is pretending otherwise.

WARNING: Auburn Has to STEAL One in October | TWT P10 | Auburn Football Podcast

The War Rapport || Mike G • B Wil • Ike Jones • C-Dub — Wed, 30 Sep 2026 19:00:00 GMT

ALERT: Auburn football has a chance to change the entire conversation around Alex Golesh's first season.

Beat Tennessee on the road.

Auburn's victory over Vanderbilt mattered. It moved the Tigers to 3 and 1 and gave fans another reason to keep believing. But one victory over Vanderbilt is not enough to prove Auburn football is headed where everybody wants it to go.

A road SEC win would be different.

If Auburn can go into Tennessee and find a way to win, regardless of what the final score looks like, suddenly there is tangible evidence that this program is making progress.

Then October becomes really interesting.

Georgia remains an enormous challenge in Athens, but LSU comes to Jordan Hare Stadium and Ole Miss has already shown vulnerability. Auburn does not need to dominate this stretch to demonstrate progress.

Auburn Football Slow Starts Cannot Continue at Tennessee | TWT P9 | Auburn Football Podcast

The War Rapport || Mike G • B Wil • Ike Jones • C-Dub — Wed, 30 Sep 2026 17:00:00 GMT

Auburn football slow starts have become the thing I am watching closest as the Tigers get ready to go to Tennessee. Auburn has found ways to win football games, and I am not going to apologize for appreciating that. The ball has bounced Auburn's way a couple of times this season after spending years watching those same breaks go the other direction. Take the win. Celebrate it. But Alex Golesh is right about one thing. Winning cannot hide what Auburn still has to fix, and this offense taking this long to find a rhythm is at the top of my list.

Auburn cannot go to Neyland Stadium and spend the first quarter trying to figure out how to play offense.

That is asking for trouble.

This is not only about scoring points either.

Sustain a drive.

Flip the field.

Give the defense time to breathe.

WARNING: Auburn’s Play Calling POSSIBLY Has a PROBLEM | TWT P7 | Auburn Football Podcast

The War Rapport || Mike G • B Wil • Ike Jones • C-Dub — Wed, 30 Sep 2026 15:00:00 GMT

ALERT: Auburn football beat Vanderbilt, but the way the Tigers won raises another major question about this offense.

Why does Auburn seem to find its best plays only when it absolutely has to have them?

The Tigers have struggled with slow starts, inconsistent offensive sequencing and an inability to consistently score touchdowns. Yet when Auburn reaches desperation mode, suddenly the offense can look completely different.

That happened against Vanderbilt.

After Vanderbilt scored in the second half, Auburn answered with one of its best touchdown drives of the game. Later, when Auburn needed to keep the football away from Vanderbilt and finish the game, the Tigers produced another impressive possession with some of their best play calls.

So where is that creativity earlier?

Joel Gordon is Auburn's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and the early results have created legitimate questions about play sequencing, scripting and how quickly Auburn is adjusting when the original plan is not working.

The blocked punt touchdown against Vanderbilt makes the offensive discussion even more important.

Auburn needed that special teams score.

If the blocked punt does not reach the end zone, there is no guarantee Auburn finishes that possession with seven points considering how inconsistent the offense has been in scoring situations. The defense held Vanderbilt to 15 points, and special teams delivered a touchdown. Auburn still needed every bit of it.
