[Bleacher Nation] - Will Jerry Stackhouse Become an All-Star Head Coach for the Bulls?

New Chicago Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations Bryson Graham is taking his sweet time in his quest for a fresh head coach. Two of this summer’s marquee NBA openings have already been filled. Former Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley , while current San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Sean Sweeney — a former contender for the Bulls’ vacancy — after the NBA Finals. At present, the Bulls are competing with the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers for the league’s best and brightest. We’re taking a deep-dive look at all of the reported Chicago head coach contenders. Today, we’ll examine the candidacy of forner Golden State Warriors assistant coach Jerry Stackhouse — who . Here are the other reported Bulls options, as of this writing: Oklahoma City Thunder assistant coach Cleveland Cavaliers associate head coach Former New Orleans Pelicans interim head coach Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Miami Heat associate head coach Atlanta Hawks assistant coach Charlotte Hornets assistant coach Interim Portland Trail Blazers head coach Bulls assistant coach BYU head coach Sharp-eyed fans will note that most of these coaches are on the young side, although Borrego and Splitter do have head coach or interim head coach experience at the NBA level. It makes sense that Chicago isn’t looking to make some kind of blockbuster splash and steal Erik Spoelstra from Miami or Rick Carlisle from the Indiana Pacers. The team, at last, seems to be aware of just how far away it is from true contention — after spending eons in denial during the Arturas Karnisovas and Gar Forman eras. Milwaukee Bucks guard Jerry Stackhouse Jerry Stackhouse: Wins and Losses Now 51, the Philadelphia 76ers selected Stackhouse with the No. 3 overall pick in 1995 after an All-American run at North Carolina, under Michael Jordan’s old head coach Dean Smith. The swingman was flipped to the Detroit Pistons halfway through his third pro season, where he earned consecutive All-Star appearances in 2000 and ’01. Stackhouse numbered among several Gen Xers seen as potential heirs apparent to His Royal Airness — along with Josh Howard, eventual Hall of Famers Kobe Bryant, Grant Hill, and Vince Carter, and others. Stackhouse also suited up for the Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks, Milwaukee Bucks, Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets before finally calling it a career in 2013. In 970 regular season games sas a player, he averaged 16.9 points on .409/.309/.822 shooting splits, 3.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks. Following his playing career, Stackhouse served as a Detroit commentator for two seasons. He then linked up with the Eastern Conference Finals-bound Toronto Raptors as an assistant coach for the 2015-16 season. He then worked as the head coach for Toronto’s then-D League affiliate Raptors 905. Stackhouse was also an assistant coach with the 33-49 Memphis Grizzlies in 2018-19 under J.B. Bickerstaff. He subsequently got another head coaching gig, albeit at the NCAA level, when he agreed to a six-year deal with the Vanderbilt Commodores in 2019. Stackhouse was let go after five years. He then kicked off a two-season run with Kerr’s Warriors in 2024-25. Golden State coach Jerry Stackhouse Wins Under head coach Dwane Casey, the 2015-16 Raptors got further than they ever had before, notching a 56-26 record and somehow pushing the title-bound Cleveland Cavaliers to a six-game Eastern Conference Finals series. Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan each made All-Star appearances, while Lowry finished 10th in MVP voting. That dynamic duo looked better together than they ever had before. Stackhouse guided the Raptors 905 to a D League championship in 2016-17, earning Coach of the Year honors for his efforts. Golden State enjoyed a brief return to relevance midway through Stackhouse’s first season with the squad, when it offloaded a blockbuster package for six-time All-Star and ex-Bulls small forward Jimmy Butler. The Warriors finished 48-34 and upset the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs. Injuries to Butler and Stephen Curry impeded Golden State from going any further last spring. Kerr and Stackhouse’s coaching acumen helped the Warriors maximize an undersized, aging roster in 2024-25, with Butler and Draymond Green helping Golden State rediscover its defensive glory of years past. The Warriors’ luck ran out after team president Mike Dunleavy Jr. failed to add length or reliable center depth last summer. This year, Butler tore his ACL halfway through the year, effectively killing the Warriors’ slim playoff chances. Vanderbilt Commodores head coach Jerry Stackhouse Losses Stackhouse’s most questionable tenure during his coaching career was his run at Vanderbilt, although even that was more of a mixed bag than an abject failure. His Commodores went 0-for-25 from 3-point range in a Jan. 18, 2020 game, breaking a Vanderbilt program streak of triple across 34 consecutive seasons. Most disturbingly, Stackhou...

[Bleacher Nation] - Curry Brand Finds New Home, 2+ Billion Views, Big Seattle Money, and Other Bulls Bullets

Good morning, Bulls fans. We are officially just three weeks away from the 2026 NBA Draft, and the anticipation is killing me. We know the offseason tends to get quiet, but when a draft pick that could completely shift the future of this franchise is less than a month away, overreactions are bound to happen. It’s relatively quiet for the Bulls, but the league is making a lot of noise. Stephen Curry’s got a new shoe deal, the NBA’s successful Conference Finals drew a ton of attention and a potential ownership group in Seattle just landed a lot more money. Let’s talk Bulls — and more NBA — basketball. Victor Wembanyama © Alonzo Adams-Imagn Images ICYMI earlier this morning we took a look at another head coach candidate for the Chicago Bulls. Could former all-star player bring his mojo to the Windy City and help change the fortunes of the Bulls? The NBA released the social media viewership numbers from Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, and just like much of the league’s recent viewership success, the numbers are absurd. The NBA reported over 2 billion views across social media platforms, making it the most-viewed NBA game ever on social. For context, Game 1 of that same series between the OKC Thunder and San Antonio Spurs, the double-overtime thriller, previously held the top spot with 1.9 billion views before being surpassed. To be fair, it was an incredibly entertaining series, especially with all the storylines and narratives built around both teams throughout the season. Game 7 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder has surpassed 2 BILLION views across social media platforms, becoming the most-viewed NBA game EVER on social. The series now owns the TWO MOST-VIEWED NBA games EVER on social, with Game 1 reaching 1.9 billion views. — NBA (@NBA) NBA superstar and sneaker free agent Stephen Curry announced that Curry Brand will partner with Chinese sneaker company Li-Ning, joining a roster that includes former Bulls stars Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade. The deal is Jordan-esque, giving Curry far more than just a signature shoe line. It includes basketball products, athleisure wear, the ability to sign both male and female athletes under Curry Brand, and even a full golf line. Over the last year, Curry was spotted wearing shoes from nearly every major brand, but the one he ultimately chose was not among the usual giants. It’s a move that gives Curry exactly what he wanted: creative control and access to a massive global audience. The partnership of a lifetime. — Stephen Curry (@StephenCurry30) And finally, we have some new updates on NBA expansion in Seattle. A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that One Roof Sports and Entertainment, the parent company of the Seattle Kraken ownership group, was officially preparing a bid this summer to bring the Seattle SuperSonics back by 2028. Now, , Melinda French Gates whose net worth is estimated around $30 billion, is joining the Seattle Kraken as a minority investor, pending NHL approval. And that investment could eventually extend into Seattle’s NBA ambitions, potentially giving a future SuperSonics ownership group some serious financial firepower right out of the gate. “The City of Seattle certainly could use an NBA team, and the fans here are ready for it,” Samantha Holloway said. “If that happens, they will all buy their Kraken friends beers because it wouldn’t happen without them. So we are hopeful, we are working on it, and stay tuned.” If Seattle’s ownership group really does end up with pockets that deep, it could only strengthen the push to bring the SuperSonics back.
[Bleacher Nation] - 2026 NBA Mock Draft: NBA Finals Edition — Will the Top 5 Teams Stay Put?

The San Antonio Spurs will once again host the New York Knicks to kick off the NBA Finals, starting with Game 1 on Wednesday — 27 years after the two franchises last battled for a championship. The Chicago Bulls have a legitimate opportunity to resurrect their franchise with what could be a transformative 2026 NBA Draft, after essentially spending the last nine post-Jimmy Butler seasons in superstar-free purgatory. Chicago possesses a whopping four picks this year, including the No. 4 selection and another just outside the lottery, at No. 15. Chicago Bulls 2026 NBA Draft Selections 4 Total Picks 4 Day 1 & 2 Picks Round 1 Owned Pick Own 1st-Round Selection Round 1 Owned Pick Portland’s 1nd-Round Selection Round 2 Owned Pick New Orleans’ 2nd-Round Selection Round 2 Owned Pick Denver’s 2nd-Round Selection Since , there has been a ton of chatter recently that some of the teams with the top five picks — the Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, our Bulls and the Los Angeles Clippers — could be persuaded to part with those selections for more assets. For the Clippers, trading down does make some sense. L.A. depleted a lot of its draft equity in that doomed 2019 Paul George-for-Shai Gilgeous-Alexander + picks swap (oops), and could use some younger faces going forward. The draft’s top four players are generally considered good enough to occupy their own tier, while the rest of the lottery is seen as more of a dealer’s choice. BYU small forward AJ Dybantsa celebrates with teammates. @ William Purnell-Imagn Images 2026 NBA Mock Draft — First Round 1. Washington Wizards: , SF, BYU Dybantsa still feels like a pretty safe pick here, although all that Utah Jazz buzz doesn’t seem to be going away. Would Danny Ainge actually sacrifice future draft equity for a favorite son? The Wizards shouldn’t bite. Washington needs all the talent it can get, and Dybantsa is the kind of jumbo-sized, hyper-athletic wing who could really help return the Wizards to relevance. Let’s go to the tape. In 35 games last season for the 23-12 Cougars, the consensus All-American averaged 25.5 points on .510/.331/.774 shooting splits, 6.8 rebounds and 3.7 dimes a night. AJ Dybantsa tape. Going to be a problem in the league. — BGN Hoops (@BGNHoops) 2. Utah Jazz: , PF/C, Duke That’s right, we’re spicing it up at No. 2! Assuming Utah can’t pry Dybantsa away from the Wiz, would Ainge and co. be able to resist Bulls alum-turned-Jazz scout Carlos Boozer’s floor-spacing son, whose polished offense should handily make him a multi-time All-Star? The Associate Press Player of the Year hasn’t generally been mocked here. A certain has been seen as the safer bet to be taken at No. 2. 3. Memphis Grizzlies: , PF, UNC have typically been expected to slip to Chicago with the fourth pick. Wilson’s athletic upside makes him, in some ways, the more exciting prospect. The creatine ingestor (more on him in a second) is another high-upside NBA hopeful pundits generally project won’t last long enough to fall to the Bulls. But Wilson is looking, well, a little too good. Apparently, some critical front offices believe he’s more worth the risk than sure-thing Boozer, thanks to Wilson’s better athleticism. What if he doesn’t last past Memphis, who ditched All-Star power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. at this past regular season’s trade deadline? If Boozer lands with Utah, then that leaves Chicago with one choice… 4. Chicago Bulls: , PG/SG, Kansas Yes, this is my nightmare among possible scenarios. Peterson is an incredibly talented player, to the point where he looked like the clear best guy among this draft class heading into the 2025-26 collegiate season. And while he was good enough to put up numbers at the NCAA level, he also started behaving erratically, with a litany of apparent injuries forcing him to miss several games. It sure seemed at times as if Peterson was coasting through college, with one eye already on the pros. Chicago doesn’t have the kind of culture needed to rein him in if Peterson starts to act out. Memphis probably doesn’t, either. If his head is on straight, he could be the best player in this draft. If it isn’t, things could get messy. 5. Los Angeles Clippers (via Indiana): , G, Illinois The Illinois breakout measured a bit slighter at the draft combine than was preferable, and doesn’t have the athletic ability of some of these other backcourt prospects. But the man can score in bunches, and was the best player on a surprise Final Four squad last year. He’d be a nice long-term fit at the two spot next to new All-Star Clippers point guard Darius Garland. Tennessee’s Nate Ament 6. Brooklyn Nets: , SF/PF, Tennessee Sources have informed of Nets Daily that Ament is earning “legitimate traction” to be selected here by Brooklyn. The combo forward had allegedly been slipping towards the end of the lottery, but given that Nets GM Sean Marks kept adding guards recently to little success, maybe he’s remembering there are other positions available. Amen...
