[Last Word on Sports] - Chargers, Dolphins Connected in Aaron Brewer Trade Rumors

The Miami Dolphins are embracing the tank, and one reporter believes the team could trade star center Aaron Brewer for premium draft capital. A former undrafted free agent, Brewer overcame his humble beginnings to establish himself as one of the game’s premier centers, first with the Tennessee Titans and then with the Dolphins. While Miami’s 2025 season was an overall disappointment, Brewer finished the year with an impressive 87.4 PFF grade, the second-best mark among 37 eligible centers. Currently set to hit free agency after the upcoming season, believes the Dolphins could trade him to the Los Angeles Chargers for a second- and fourth-round pick in the . “Even a sell-happy team like the Dolphins isn’t going to be eager to trade a 28-year-old center who ranks near the top of the league at his position and has an affordable salary,” Vacciano writes. “But he is going to be a free agent next year and could cost a small fortune. So it wouldn’t be crazy for the Dolphins to get something for him now and find his replacement in the draft.” Chargers, Dolphins Connected In Aaron Brewer Trade Rumor Aaron Brewer is a great center, and the Chargers had a bad offensive line last year. However, despite this, it’s hard to envision this trade going down. Los Angeles already signed former to a three-year contract, and barring an injury, he will be the team’s starting center. Biadasz might not be as good as Brewer, but he’s still a solid starter and more than capable of keeping Justin Herbert upright. Surrendering a second- and fourth-round pick for a marginal upgrade at a non-crucial position just wouldn’t make sense. The only way this trade could theoretically work is if the Chargers planned on moving Aaron Brewer to guard. Los Angeles could definitely use more help at the position, as former and Cole Strange are currently slated to start at left and right guard, respectively. Brewer has some experience at the position and would almost certainly be an upgrade, but it would be an unconventional move. For one, Brewer hasn’t played a snap at guard since the 2022 season, and he wasn’t particularly great in that role. According to Pro Football Focus, Brewer finished the 2022 season with a 59.9 grade, the second-lowest of his career. He’s clearly more comfortable at center, and the Chargers shouldn’t give up multiple draft picks to try and fit a square peg in a round hole. Los Angeles should add more talent at guard, but they’re better off just using the picks they have on offensive line prospects.
