Sooners On SI Podcast 376: All the Post-Georgia Fallout

John Hoover, Sooners On SI — Mon, 28 Sep 2026 23:58:36 GMT

Sooners On SI's John Hoover, Ryan Chapman, Carson Field and Ryan Aber present episode 376 of the Sooners On SI Podcast.

Georgia booted us out of the press box, so we drove home and took a couple days to reassess the game.

It was just as bad as we thought. Most of the conversation centers on QB John Mateer and the putrid OU offense, with plenty of breakdown of the OU run game, wide receivers, running backs, offensive line and, of course, coaching.

Then we dive into the defense and how the Sooners essentially almost shut down the Bulldogs but ultimately couldn't withstand both Georgia and the mistakes of the OU offense.

Texas is up next, so Oklahoma doesn't have much time to get things turned around. But the team discussed some solutions and some suggestions.

Why not Whitt Newbauer? TIME for Oklahoma to make a change at Quarterback

Locked On Podcast Network — Mon, 28 Sep 2026 18:18:11 GMT

Oklahoma Sooners spark quarterback controversy after loss to Georgia—could Whitt Neubauer ignite the offense before the Red River Showdown? John Williams questions John Mateer's confidence and leadership under center, drawing comparisons to Tim Tebow’s unmatched moxie and highlighting how hesitation is stalling the Sooners' attack.

Spotlighting SEC defensive stats, John Williams credits the Sooners' defense as one of the league’s best, despite a tough game against Georgia featuring explosive plays and a costly 54-yard touchdown run. He scrutinizes Ben Arbuckle’s struggling run game, offensive line issues, and the urgency to unlock answers before facing Texas. Will a change at quarterback provide the spark Oklahoma needs, or will the offensive roller coaster derail their SEC hopes?
