Golden Knights still in the mix for Dylan Larkin, fan on Brady Tkachuk

The Golden Knights are still in the mix to get Dylan Larkin, the current Red Wings captain, via a trade. VGK, Florida and Minnesota are the top three choices for the center. It is believed that the Golden Knights would have to move its leading goal-scorer Pavel Dorofeyev and add some other pieces to complete the trade. Jack Eichel and Larkin are friends. Adding Larkin would give VGK a 30-30 player on its second line. It would also pair him with Mitch Marner and Brett Howden. The Golden Knights were not successful in the bid to acquire Brady Tkachuk, who joins his brother in Florida to form a potent second line with Sam Bennett in the middle. VGK didn't have the assets available for starters - as the Panthers gave up four draft picks, including two this year. And we continue with our coverage of the Bruce Cassidy saga, as a report said VGK was upset the Oilers wanted to get permission to interview Cassidy while they still had a head coach.

VGK eliminated as Canes hoist first Cup in two decades

The Golden Knights were shutout by the Canes 3-0 Sunday night at the Fortress, ending the Stanley Cup Final series. Carolina wins the best of seven series on VGK's home ice 4-2. Brandon Bussi stopped all 22 shots he faced. The Golden Knights offense was stifled by the Canes as VGK went 18:37 between shots in the second to third periods. Taylor Hall started the scoring early as he got behind the VGK defense and beat Carter Hart. Jackson Blake scored the second Canes goal and a third period Nick Ehlers empty netter sealed the win for Carolina. The Canes won the last three games of the series. Jordan Staal was the Conn Smythe winner for the series. He scored goals in each of the first five games and dominated in the faceoff circle winning a Cup Final record 68% of his draws. VGK had scoring chances in the sixth game. Tomas Hertl had a couple of high-dangers and Jack Eichel rang another crossbar. We talk about whether John Tortorella was outcoached in the series. And the Hanifin-Anderrson pairing needs to be retooled defensively.

The Vegas Golden Knights fell to the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-0, in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on Sunday at T-Mobile Arena. The Hurricanes claim the Stanley Cup Final series, 4-2.

Taylor Hall scored the game-opening goal at 3:47 of the first period to give Carolina an early 1-0 lead. The Hurricanes took a two-goal lead with 6:29 remaining in the middle frame with a goal from Jackson Blake. Nikolaj Ehlers sealed Carolina's 3-0 win with a late empty-netter. The Golden Knights finished with 22 shots on goal, while Carter Hart made 20-of-22 saves in net.

Do-Or-Die for the Golden Knights!

The Stanley Cup will be in the building tonight at T-Mobile Arena. The Golden Knights will have to win tonight plus one more game to capture the coveted Cup. It's do-or-die for VGK. If they lose, the season is over. If not, it will force a seventh game in Raleigh. The Golden Knights have lost two straight to the Canes. For the Golden Knights to win tonight, they need to play cleaner hockey and not turn the puck over as much as they have. They also need to stay out of the penalty box, because the Canes scored two power play goals the last game. VGK will have to adjust without William Karlsson in the lineup tonight. The Golden Knights struggled after scoring a first period goal in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes. Carolina could eliminate VGK Sunday at T-Mobile Arena. VGK looked listless after that. Pavel Dorofeyev is the only player that scored for VGK and he put the puck in net twice to score his first goals of the Cup Final. Andre Svechnikov scored twice for the Canes, both on power play opportunities. It was a game in which the Golden Knights accumulated 10 penalty minutes. The Golden Knights looked like the tired team. The Vegas Golden Knights fell to the Carolina Hurricanes, 4-2, in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday at Lenovo Center.

Pavel Dorofeyev opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 6:52 of the first period, finishing a cross-slot feed from Jack Eichel to give Vegas a 1-0 lead. Carolina answered before the intermission as Jordan Staal tied the game 1-1.

The Hurricanes took control in the second period with a power-play goal from Andrei Svechnikov and a later tally from Sebastian Aho to build a 3-1 advantage. Svechnikov added his second power-play goal of the night with 8:52 remaining in regulation to extend Carolina's lead to 4-1.

Dorofeyev scored his second goal of the game less than four minutes later, burying a loose puck created by a backhanded pass from Shea Theodore to cut the deficit to two.

However, the Hurricanes held off the late push and secured a 4-2 victory in Game 5.

VGK's chance to take grip on series is Staal'd

The Stanley Cup Final becomes a best of three series after the Hurricanes took Game 4 5-3. The Golden Knights missed the opportunity to take a commanding 3-1 series lead as they played a sloppy game, had poor puck management and had 23 giveaways, mostly unforced turnovers. The Golden Knight let in the game winner as Jordan Staal scored as a result of a Shea Theodore turnover. Brayden McNabb also had a crucial turnover in the contest. The series is tied at 2-2 but neither team has take control. VGK has to play better around the blue paint defensively according to John Tortorella. We talked about Carter Hart who has now let in 16 goals in four games. He has allowed four goals in each game of the Cup series, a new NHL record. We also discuss why VGK's special teams are struggling.

The Vegas Golden Knights lost to the Carolina Hurricanes, 5-3, after a multi-goal comeback fell short in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday at T-Mobile Arena. The series is tied, 2-2.

The Hurricanes built a 2-0 lead in the opening 3:28 as Logan Stankoven scored on a rebound and Jackson Blake added another early tally. Mark Stone cut the deficit to 2-1 at 7:22 of the first period, finishing a breakaway after a stretch pass from Shea Theodore, but Jordan Staal restored Carolina’s two-goal advantage with a power-play goal late in the frame.

Vegas rallied in the second period as William Karlsson buried a one-timer off a feed from Rasmus Andersson at 4:22, and Brett Howden tied the game 3-3 with his 14th goal of the postseason on a toe-drag wrist shot with less than three minutes remaining.

The Hurricanes regained the lead for good at 6:32 of the third period when Staal scored his second goal of the night on a broken play in front. Nikolaj Ehlers added an empty-net goal late to secure Carolina’s 5-3 victory.
