  • Looking ahead to the 2023 cycle in progress, UW has 5 known A-List offers out. Guess where Gus Yalden is at? 445 days and counting.

  • Tip: Once a recruit hits 3 months from his Wisconsin offer, don't expect a Badger verbal. Exceptions are wonderful! Gard & Co. defied the odds with Johnny Davis and especially Ben Carlson (being out-of-state). Matthew Mors to a lesser extent too.

  • From 2017 (Gard's first full class) thru 2022, A-Listers offered by UW typically take 400 days to decide. *The 9 recruits Wisconsin signed averaged 195 days. *The others? 477 days. UW also rec'd verbals from 8 other recruits in this span with an avg of 68 days til decision.

  • Unfortunate side effect is other big time programs take note and their resulting offers raise the recruit's profile. Naturally, kids are intrigued by new interest (blue bloods?) and often stretch out their recruitment. But usually not the ones who want to be at Wisconsin.

  • If I may nerd out a bit, let's call Huff an A-List recruit. Top of board at his position, offered years before he'd enroll, etc. By definition, these players are more sought after & harder to land. Wisconsin has excelled at identifying talent and fit beyond star ratings.

  • Probably will see @BadgerMBB turn the page on 2022 class with Huff's verbal to Zags yesterday. 439 days from UW's offer to his commitment. Data shows drawn out recruitments are unlikely but not impossible for Badgers to win.

  • Well that escalated fast. What an embarrassment. On the plus side, Notre Dame is going to be comically overconfident in its defense after this game. Cincy will likely skewer them.

  • Uncharacteristically kind of the Gophers to take an ounce of scrutiny off of Graham Mertz today.
