RT @clrkaitken: Welcome to the NHL, 12pm games start at 12:34. Our regular season ends Wednesday but the playoffs start the Saturday before. We have a rulebook but penalties are and aren’t called. Teams have the “will to win” and “culture” until they lose and it immediately disappears.
RT @OilersPain: And yes I’m excited as hell for playoffs I love the Oilers. Mostly the players That’s why I wish there the front office performed better Holland is much like EDM’s bottom 6 - a weak spot that should be improved, hidden behind 97’s brilliance
RT @OilersPain: Note that Holland’s job is to make the McDavid-off numbers respectable He hasn’t done that. He hasn’t even made progress This year was all 97 & a Schmiddy heater nobody could have predicted That’s not Holland-hating, just the truth. He demonstrably sucks
It's actually wild how many men have had so much difficulty filling out the easier parts of the roster while the hard to acquire, high leverage parts have been in place. For like 10+ years.
It is *not* his first chance to affect the roster.
As of now, absolutely. If a GM could get them to just *breakeven* with McDavid off they'd win cupS plural. Imagine they *won* those minutes? Holy ****
RT @DKingBH: This is gonna be really popular with the newspaper crowd, countings stats and standings, but it wasn't worth the effort with Barrie. They didn't need him for the PP and because he is bad defensively, it hindered 97 and his presence also cost Bouchard learning
And, for the percentage that isn't McDavid? Almost entirely an almost 40yo Mike Smith having arguably the most edge case season of all time. That is not *good work* by Ken Holland. Enjoy it AF but, it's McDavid and the goalie.
If you know you know Amazing regular season Understand how much of it was Connor McDavid
It came down to the tiniest of margins, but Connor McDavid has established a new NHL record. McDavid recorded 105 points on 183 EDM goals -- 57.38%. The previous record was held by Mario Lemieux during the 1988-89 season. Lemieux had a point on 57.35% of PIT's goals.
4-1. I mean, you're watching. Feeling for Mikko. Really believed in him coming into the season. An unfair start, a probability-defying bender from Schmiddy, and the inevitable loss of confidence that comes from being/feeling wholly unsupported by your organization. All the best
RT @DKingBH: Bouchard is the Oilers most skilled dman and also the team's third most skilled forward. I know a lot of people aren't giving the Oilers a good shot at going far in the playoffs but just imagine how deep you are when you can bench q talent like this
