Canseco in Jays gear with Cooper equipment wearing 00 is a whole lotta something.
For the workers who will be coming into contact with the Jays and other teams, I worry. But I also acknowledge that many of those hotel and catering staff will be called back BECAUSE of the MLB’s presence in Toronto. The benefit to those workers is a bit more clear.
There’s no question there will be risk involved, and I fully acknowledge that the benefits are hard to quantify. But the season is going forward, and I can’t look at the players and staff of this team that I’m emotionally invested in and say: “Sorry, but no, stay out.”
I hope the Jays are able to return to Toronto. For the sake of the players and staff. They should be able to isolate in the Rogers Centre complex, and pose less of a threat to the general public, and I'd just be relieved to see them out of Florida.
For all our smug Candianness, I think maybe 20% of the people at the supermarket tonight had masks on. Saw a dude cough by just turning his head to the side, with no effort to stifle it. That second wave is gonna be a real humdinger.
This thread is spot on. As a single parent who has spent most of 4 months in crisis mode while trying to teach and parent my child, I’m exhausted and fully expecting to continue this juggling act for another six months. I’m spent. (And to be fair, her mom is doing more than me.)
Bobbing back to talk about schools and ‘economic reopening’. Schools are now the last thing to come back. Maybe. They’re an afterthought, despite the fact most adults have children, and childcare is the biggest barrier to economic re-engagement.
