  • Cool story from @BaseballAmerica columnist @TracyRingolsby about the founding and establishing of BA as a draft authority. Allan Simpson found his niche in the game 1981. We strive everyday to honor his vision. https://t.co/38AqhpfgV3

  • A retweet of something I tweeted two years ago. The only thing that has changed is that BA has now reported and previewed 40 draft classes rather than 38. This year will be the 56th draft in history. Thank you Allan Simpson for your vision and contributions to the game.
This point cannot be overstated: Allan Simpson invented draft coverage and prospect coverage as we know it today. @DraftGuyAllanS is a true baseball pioneer. https://t.co/N7dtqBAUgM

  • Which baseball statistical projection system (or systems) are most accurate at forecasting playing time and counting stats? Not a rhetorical question. Seeking feedback.

  • "Two months ago, these two sides hammered out one agreement. Two months later, they can’t even agree on what they agreed on."
Is baseball somehow going to wind up as the only sport that is not going to play? C’mon. Are people this smart really going to decide that’s an acceptable and sensible decision? No, no, no, no, no. It’s just not My plea to MLB: Don't drive off this cliff! https://t.co/qkmqVjU9wW

  • The Twins should be commended for their people-first decisions. Keeping minor league players under contract ensures that they keep their insurance.
In the last eight days, the Twins have committed to: - Keeping their full staff at full pay through June (No furloughs/layoffs/pay cuts). - $400/week to minor leaguers through August. - No minor leaguers released unless MiLB season occurs. Really impressive, all the way around.

  • This is something to keep in mind this offseason when perusing the transactions wire. Short-sighted decisions in the name of saving money for 2021 can have significant longterm ramifications.

  • But about the Twins' non-tender decision ... MLB and the players' union narrowly avoided a work stoppage in August 2002. This was fresh in teams' minds that offseason, when a higher-than-expected number of MLB players were non-tendered or released for "financial" reasons.

  • Ortiz signed with the Red Sox—and the rest is history. He hit 483 of his 541 home runs for Boston, where he won three World Series rings, hitting .289/.404/.543 (947 OPS) in 369 postseason PA.
