  • It depends on the team -- some teams opt to continue with the trade if they are compensated more -- which is exactly what happened in Indiana. The physical is so the team can validate what they are obtaining. Pacers could have voided the team, they chose not to.
@stevekylerNBA If the physical is failed, the trade is normally negated.

  • A couple of things -- most teams won't carry more than two centers (if that) - the game has evolved away from traditional centers. The other part is DD himself, would he agree to what a team offered, or is he waiting for a winning situation?
@stevekylerNBA is there a reason why someone like dewayne dedmon is not any roster but especially a team like the nets?

  • Given how much the Magic care about character, not sure they go after a guy with Porter's luggage.
@stevekylerNBA am I crazy thinking the magic should make a movie for Kevin porter? Would be nice adding another young guy for cheap

  • Not suggesting it is the same - the concept is the same, players must pass physicals before a trade is complete unless the team acquiring it waives the physical. It's done to ensure teams get what they thought they were getting, teams are required to share medical information
@stevekylerNBA No, we are talking about different things. If you knew how football transfers worked, you would understand that the way the NBA does it is not the same. At all.

  • I think there were a lot of motivations and the return made sense to the Pacers.
@stevekylerNBA Oh ok thanks for the explanation. Tells me the pacers really wanted to get oladipo out of the team as soon as possible. And they have high hopes on lavert.

  • There is no guaranteeing you get a top pick. The lottery is even more random now.
@stevekylerNBA Regardless of what WeltHam wants to do, those injuries to key players have pretty much made their decision for them. They might as well try to have something to show for it, like a top pick.
