MSU Punks UM 79-61 on Senior Day
Episode Description
March 9, 2025: Michigan State hosted Michigan to close the season on Senior Day and pounded the Wolverines 79-62 to win the Big Ten outright by 3 games. The 3 game margin is similar to Purdue’s the last three years and 17 Big Ten wins marks a record for the MSU program.
The win came largely on the back of a blistering first half by the Spartans where they clamped down on the Wolverines on defense and were hitting on all cylinders on the offensive end as well. Frankly, UM just looked shell shocked and headed to the locker room down 50-28.
The second half felt more like a meaningless exhibition until the very end as MSU was celebrating its seniors. As is tradition at MSU, seniors check out of the game and kiss the logo at center court - a tradition as well known as the first quarter wave at Children’s hospital in football at Iowa. However, Michigan reserve guards Phat Phat Brooks and LJ Cason decided to stand at center court in the way as MSU tried to cycle through its seniors. Tre Holloman took issue with those guys ruining his senior teammates’ tradition and started a shoving match. Double technical fouls assessed and the game was over.
