Episode Description

The Atlanta Braves broke their four-game losing streak last night in dominant fashion with a 12-0 win over the Texas Rangers.

It’s hard to find anything to complain about looking back at his game. Charlie Morton pitched a scoreless 6.2 innings and every Brave that came up to the plate got a hit.

The scoring got started in the top of the 2nd, where Kevin Pillar hit a two-run home run, just to be followed by Ronald Acuña Jr. hitting a two-run shot of his own.

Later, in the 5th inning, Matt Olson and Ozzie Albies hit back-to-back RBI doubles to make it 6-0.

The home run part was far from over for the Braves.

In the top of the 6th, Orlando Arcia hit a two-run homer, scoring Michael Harris II.

Then in the top of the 7th, Austin Riley (hopefully) broke through his slump with a two-run shot to score Matt Olson.

Capping us off was Marcell Ozuna, with a two-run homer n the 9th inning, setting the score at 12-0.

Aside from all the run-scoring done by the Braves, the work done on the mound was incredibly valuable for a few reasons.

As I said, Morton covered 6.2 innings allowing seven hits, no runs and struck out ten hitters. Then Brian Snitker brought in Danny Young, who finished off the game without a blemish.

Those two guys covering all nine innings allow the Braves to, if they wish, go with a bullpen game in game two rather than calling up Jared Shuster.

As I’m writing this they haven’t made a decision, but it will be interesting to see what the Braves decide.

Regardless of who starts the game, Atlanta looks to make it two straight tonight at 8:05 pm ET against Dane Dunning of the Texas Rangers.
