Rochester, NY. The Rochester Red Wings finished their series against the St. Paul Saints with an 8-1 loss.
RHP Joan Adon pitched 4.2 innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits and striking out four. Adon threw 94 pitches, with 58 of them being strikes. Adon only faced 23 batters in this afternoon’s loss. He is now 3-4 during the season.
Southpaw Joe La Sorsa took over in the fifth, going 1.1 scoreless innings on just one hit in his 17th season appearance. RHP T.J. Zeuch entered to start the top of the seventh, making his ninth appearance with the Red Wings. The former Toronto draft pick went 1.2 innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits while walking two. RHP Luis Reyes finished off the eighth inning, allowing two hits before handing the ball over to RHP Orlando Ribalta, who received the task of the final inning for Rochester. The veteran surrendered one hit with two walks during the scoreless inning.
There wasn’t a lot of offense for the Rochester Red Wings as the Red Wings only scored in the bottom of the first off a Juan Yepez ground out scoring Darren Baker. Rochester only had four hits in today’s game this afternoon as the St. Paul pitching was lights out.
CF Darren Baker set a career-high with three stolen bases during the contest. He has eight games this season with at least two stolen bases, the most among all Triple-A players.
Next, the Rochester Red Wings will have their normal Monday off and kick off a series against the Worcester Red Sox in Worcester, Massachusetts, starting on Tuesday.
The Red Wings will send RHP Spenser Watkins (1-2, 5.03) to the mound and face RHP Richard Fitts (4-1, 3.72) for the Worcester Red Sox.
