The hits just kept on coming for the Philadelphia Phillies as they plated 11 runs for a second straight game and got by the Royals 11-3 Sunday afternoon! Garrett Stubbs lead the offense with a career high 4 hits as Kolby Allard tossed 5 innings of 2-run baseball!  

Despite J.T. Realmuto’s 2-homer, 7-RBI night in game 2, Rob Thomson decided to give his catcher the day off and have Garrett Stubbs get the day behind the dish. Stubbs rewarded his skipper by coming up just a homer shy of the cycle.  

Stubbs started the 3rd inning off with a triple, then came around to score on a Kyle Schwarber RBI double. The Phillies went on to score another in the inning, then 3 in the 6th before the floodgates opened in the 8th. Nick Castellanos hit his 17th homer of the season that capped a 5-run 8th.  

Overall, every Phillies starter recorded at least 1 hit in the win, while Schwarber, Alec Bohm, Brandon Marsh, Garrett Stubbs and Johan Rojas all had multi-hit games!

As for the cycle watch, Stubbs went; Triple, bunt single, Double then just missed a home run in his 8th inning with 4 pitches down the middle of the plate. He settled for a second single. Then in the 9th, with Garrett Hampson, a position player pitching, Stubbs came up again. Hampson plunked Stubbs in the leg on a 57 mph junk pitch. Stubbs was noticeably frustrated, but took his base.
