“Thank you to Eric, Harbs and the Ravens for placing their faith in me and to continue to build upon what we’re building here. I think we’re trending in the right direction as a team," kicker Justin Tucker after signing his four-year, $23 million extension Wednesday.
What could go wrong?
Just talked to a Redskins source who told me Dan Snyder has "taken over the first round of the draft." The last time that happened the Redskins traded two future No. 1's and a No. 2 to move up for Robert Griffin.
Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said the one-year extension with guard Marshal Yanda doesn't guarantee he'll play in 2020 but added, "That's Marshal's decision. He didn't like the idea of him going into the final year of his deal, and we didn't either."
DeCosta said Tucker deal came together pretty fast. Said team had a timeframe before the draft that they wanted to get deal. "Number one, he's the best kicker in the league. IF you agree with that, it's pretty easy to get a deal done. I'm not a big believer in wasting time."
Well, good, that means that, along with the final details on Tucker's extension, we will finally be getting the details of Yanda's extension in the next couple of days.
DeCosta: "We hate to lose good players. This offseason, it happened too many times. Today was great, we had Justin up in my office signing his contract and two hours later, we had Marshal [Yanda] up in my office signing his contract. Two of our great players."
