This proved to be extremely decisive yesterday. KSU just loaded up to stop the run and the Smith package went nowhere. I don’t know how a guy as smart as Cumbie doesn’t realize how useless that package is if Smith isn’t allowed to throw.
You can’t check Smith in just to run power. You have to do something other than that to force teams to respect him. 4th and 2 with Tech burning a timeout. Don’t call a play you aren’t ready to run because you might need that damn timeout.
The weird stuff happens when the matchups look iffy. @max_olson and I discuss.. 🤯 A 9-OT upset in State College 🏈 Oklahoma living dangerously 🦆 Oregon survives 🦃 Change coming at Virginia Tech? And of course… #2L2P 🍎https://t.co/6MjhhqoONW 🎧https://t.co/zcSR7ZZ5jE
Patterson did everything he could to fix his defense. And honestly, he was pretty successful today. Unreal Tech lost anyways. Wells has lost every kind of way and the program is just going backwards.
Kansas State rushed for 18 effing yards and beat Texas Tech.
I doubt it but I guarantee he’s discussing it with those close to him. I never like firing coaches midseason if there’s any chance for a turnaround, but you probably lose out. Rip the bandaid off and start the search before anyone else can start securing the best options.
Matt Wells on the proverbial hot seat at Texas Tech?
Texas Tech loses a 14-point halftime lead and fall to K-State 25-24 in Lubbock. At 5-3 now, Red Raiders need one more win for bowl eligibility. Remaining sked: at OU, Iowa State, Ok St, at Baylor. Gulp.
Losing to Texas and TCU the way they did was really bad. Losing to KSU after how much the Wildcats let you stay in this game? Somehow managed to one up it. It’s time for there to be some accountability. Wells is a bad football coach, let’s move on.
